Erin Gee at Mutek Forum 2026

The Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Music at Université de Montréal and cinEXmedia co-researcher will take part in the professional component of the MUTEK festival.

The cinEXmedia partnership is supporting student participation in this year’s MUTEK Forum, which will feature Erin Gee, Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Music at Université de Montréal and a cinEXmedia co-researcher. The professional component of MUTEK, a festival dedicated to digital art and electronic music, the Forum brings together hundreds of guests from Quebec and around the world each year.

A specialist in experimental electronic music and the use of biofeedback in musical creation, Erin Gee was previously featured in a profile on our website when she joined the partnership.

On August 28, Gee will lead a workshop at Espace Wilder, in Montreal’s Quartier des spectacles, entitled Music as Wetware: Composing Bodies with Biofeedback, Sound and Light. The previous day, August 27, she will take part in the panel Biosignals in Digital Art, presented by the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), alongside Karim Jerbi, Full Professor of Psychology at Université de Montréal, and Jean-Michaël Celerier, researcher and Director of Technology Development at the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT), among others. Both events are reserved for accredited Forum participants.

Founded in Montreal in 2000, MUTEK is dedicated to electronic music and digital art, with a particular focus on experimental and avant-garde forms of electronic creation. Its programming includes live electronic music, audiovisual performances, digital installations, and immersive experiences that bring art and emerging technologies into dialogue.

MUTEK Montréal now comprises three main components: the festival; the MUTEK Forum, dedicated to issues surrounding digital creation and technology; and the Village Numérique, which offers free installations and activities in the Quartier des spectacles. MUTEK has also grown into an international network, with editions in countries including Mexico, Spain, Japan, Argentina, and Chile.
