CINEX is a film experience research program that includes interdisciplinary research on the effects of cinema on moviegoers, both in theatres and at home, in modes of transport or in schools. This program, led by the director of the Laboratoire CinéMédias, Santiago Hidalgo, in collaboration with André Gaudreault, who holds the Canada Research Chair in Film and Media Studies, was created in 2018 by Santiago Hidalgo as part of his doctoral research on film consciousness. The CINEX research program includes a large number of training activities and research projects which foster collaboration between the arts and sciences, as well as between schools and laboratories interested in technological innovations in the field of the cinematic experience.

The scholarly committee of CINEX is composed of the following members of the Laboratoire CinéMédias: Thomas Carrier-Lafleur, Charlotte Dronier, Joël Lehmann, Caroline Martin and Santiago Hidalgo. The expanded committee includes Sarah Lippé (Professor, Département de psychologie, Université de Montréal, Researcher at CHU Sainte-Justine, Director of the NED Laboratory) and Inga Sophia Knoth (M.Sc., Research Coordinator at the NED Laboratory).
