From May 18-20, the five winners of the prestigious 2018 Killam Prize will participate in the interdisciplinary Opera Research-Creation Seminar, led by professor and composer Ana Sokolović. After a lecture given by each on the relationship between rhythm and their respective research (film studies, biomechanics, physics, neuroscience, psychology of language), the laureates will contribute to the co-creation process by accompanying creative teams bringing together musicologists, composers, librettists and performers in song, music and dance. To conclude this exceptional meeting, which is the result of a collaboration between the CINEXMEDIA partnership and the Canada Research Chair in Opera Creation, the public will be invited to discover the results of this co-creation work. This event, which will take place on May 20, will take the form of a roundtable discussion with the Killam Prize laureates and composer Ana Sokolović. It will be followed by a presentation of works created by the students of the seminar and inspired by this intersectorial research.
