International Student Symposium of the cinEXmedia partnership

The cinEXmedia partnership invites you to the cinEXmedia partnership's International Student Symposium, which will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at the Université de Montréal.

Contributing to well-being in the age of screens: an intersectoral approach between film studies, health sciences and social sciences.

To ensure the sustainability of research in cinematography and media, it is crucial to examine the pervasive influence of screens in our daily lives. An integrated approach that combines academic reflection with field research is necessary to bridge the gaps between media and reception studies, health sciences, and the human and social sciences. By exploring our interactions with screens from various perspectives, we can gain a comprehensive and an inclusive understanding of the societal, educational, and therapeutic implications of the cinematic experience. The cinEXmedia partnership aims to connect researchers from diverse disciplines. This collaborative approach enables us to anticipate the evolving role of film and media studies in a rapidly changing world, fostering the development of visual content that caters to a wide range of audiences and reception contexts.

During this student symposium, the next generation of researchers is invited to present their work, which seeks to provide the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary to enhance the cinematic experience. This includes addressing its cognitive, neurological, psychological, physical, cultural, aesthetic, and technological dimensions.
