Media Club | Research-Creation Edition
The Student Activities Committee of the cinEXmedia partnership launches a new edition of its Media Club (hyperlink in French only), this time focused on research-creation works by graduate students. Each session will feature a presentation of a student work, followed by a one-hour discussion with the creator(s), moderated by a member of the Student Activities Committee.
This initiative aims to:
- Foster dialogue among graduate student creators, who may often work in isolation
- Provide critical feedback during the creative process
- Encourage interdisciplinary exchange
- Offer visibility to student work
- Reflect on the issues explored by the cinEXmedia partnership through a research-creation lens
We invite you to the first session presented by Chedly and Merlin
As part of this event, two artists are welcomed to explore noise and glitch through unique and immersive approaches. Chedly Boughedir presents Noise, a hybrid installation combining lenticular comics, QR codes, and interactive digital fragments, where errors and accidents become both narrative and aesthetic drivers. Merlin Campbell will share a poetic videomusic drawn from film archives, transforming a documentary about whales into a visual meditation on the beauty and fragility of these marine mammals. Together, they invite the audience to discover how noise, fragmentation, and accidents can become tools for creation and the reinvention of storytelling, bridging physical and digital media.
Date: September 17, 2025
Time: Doors open at 2 PM / Discussion starts at 5 PM
Location: Room C-1070, Pavillon Lionel-Groulx, Université de Montréal
